A Heartfelt Appeal and Prayer for Air India Flight AI 171
Dear friends and fellow citizens,
Today, a deep shadow has fallen over our souls. Air India Flight AI 171 — a Boeing 787‑8 Dreamliner carrying 242 precious lives — crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport en route to London Gatwick. Among those aboard were 169 Indian nationals, 53 Brits, seven Portuguese, one Canadian, and 12 crew members.
Casualties
There are glimpses of survivors being tended in hospitals, but also harrowing reports of multiple fatalities. The crash site, near Meghani Nagar and a doctors’ hostel, is shrouded in flames and anguish as rescue teams battle to bring hope amid the smoke. In this moment of unspeakable tragedy:
- Our deepest prayers are with every victim and their loved ones. We stand united, reaching out to the survivors and rescuers with all the compassion our Dharmic spirit can offer.
- May seva (selfless service) guide those on the frontlines — from fire crews to medical staff — as they work tirelessly.
- Let us channel our energy, through chanting, meditation, and heartfelt donation, to uplift those in despair.
Let this tragedy remind us of one profound truth of Dharma: we are all interwoven threads in the fabric of life. A calamity in one corner of the world shakes the entire loom. So let our thoughts ripple outward, embracing every soul touched by this event.
